January Media

Arts & Culture

A cinematic rebrand for a studio in transition.

January Media (formerly January Films) came to us during a pivotal shift, expanding from film into TV, podcasts, and digital storytelling. With a new name and broader scope, they needed a brand identity that could carry across formats while staying true to their creative roots.

Led by longtime producer Julia Rosenberg, the studio wanted a visual identity that felt cinematic and personal. Inspired by Canadian skies and quiet emotional moments, the brand needed to evoke a sense of story, light, and transition without falling into cliché.

A spatial, atmospheric immersion of joy.

Wade & Leta, the NYC-based design duo known for their exuberant, color-drenched aesthetic, invited us to collaborate on Music to Your Eyes — their international exhibition exploring harmony through visual rhythm, color, and form.

The physical show was already a feast for the senses: bold wall reliefs, sculptural inflatables, and surreal costume photography filled the space with joyful dissonance. Our role was to extend this fantastical world into virtual space — crafting a VR experience that could deepen the emotional resonance of the exhibition and offer a new way for audiences to engage with their universe of “visual music.”

Process

Process

Rather than providing a strict brief, Wade & Leta gave us something rare — full creative freedom. They knew they wanted a VR component but left the direction entirely in our hands. The only requirements were: it had to feel like them — vibrant, optimistic, and delightfully weird — while pushing their work into an entirely new medium. And it had to incorporate the brand identity they created for the exhibition.

Our goal was to create a standalone experience that translated their energetic visual language into movement, dimension, and interactivity. Ultimately, we set out to heighten the viewer’s sense of immersion and joy, and allow the exhibition to live beyond its physical walls.

We grounded the brand in the emotional language of light, drawing from winter skies and golden-hour hues. The identity centered around a rising semi-circle that suggests both a sun and a lens, hinting at moments in transition.

Clean type and subtle motion gave it clarity and flow. It was a collaborative, detail-driven process shaped by Julia’s creative vision and her desire for something quietly powerful.

OUTCOME

OUTCOME

The final VR experience acts as a living extension of Music to Your Eyes — a spatial, atmospheric translation of Wade & Leta’s signature aesthetic.

Visitors are invited to drift through an ever-shifting dreamscape where forms swell, textures dance, and color becomes a language of emotion. Visitors of the exhibition were delighted with the virtual extension of the show and Wade & Leta are able to share a piece of the exhibition with users around the world.

The final identity is cinematic, quiet, and expansive, designed to hold emotion without needing to shout. Built around the language of light and transition, it reflects the studio’s evolving focus and deep storytelling roots.

It marks not just a new name but a new era, one that feels grounded, poetic, and unmistakably January.
